Sweet Corn

I have another simple recipe to share!

You might already taste this food by buying it from malls. I saw a mini stall near the entrance of Oberon Mall, selling sweet corn in cups and always see people stay in queue to buy it. That's because it's sooooo tasty, I know! I love it too. It's one of my favorite food.

I'm very familiar to this food since I'm in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mama made it many many times. Yes, of course we can make it by ourselves at home. That's why we never buy it from mall.

Well, I don't know whether we can call it a recipe, cause it's actually very simple things to do. All you need is sweet corn (of course!) and butter. Other additional ingredients are depend on your preference. I like it buttery and salty, but Noura like it sweet, just like we normally did in Jakarta. Ok now, here's what you have to do :

Take some sweet corn and boil it until it cooked. You can use the frozen sweet corn, it's easier. But we usually use fresh one. For this, boil it first and then peel off the corn kernels from its cob. When it's still hot, place them in a cup, and add 1 tablespoon of butter and your additional ingredients.

Me : I will add a pinch of salt and black pepper and then mix it well. It's so yummy!

Noura : She loves corn with 1 - 2 tablespoon of sweeten condenced milk (ex: From Amul or Milk Maid), and sometimes with grated cheddar cheese.

Try it, and you're going to LOVE it!

New Home

We moved! Finally now we're on 11th floor of the same building. It's been a week we're here, and we love it. This flat has bigger balcony, my favorite part of the house. This is where I put all my toys. And I will spend my time playing with my little sister there, after school.

Cause this new flat doesn't have attached cupboards like we had in our old flat, last week Uppa bought us a new shelfs to put our dresses. Ít's a pink shelf, my favorite color. Me and Noura put it in our room by ourselves, and then we helped Mama putting all of our dresses in it.

Saturday Project : Donuts. Plus recipe!

Hi All,

Today is a holiday, Mama and I decided to do something. We're making donuts, yaaaay! And this time, Mama let me to make my own donuts. Well of course the hardest part (kneading the dough) is Mama's part. It's a messy part and needing a lot of energy! But I really enjoy the rest of the process : making it into smaller balls, making a hole in every balls, (frying is also Mama's part) and then decorate them into beautiful donuts with sugar and chocolate.

Noura of course made a lot of trouble. But because it's a holiday, we let her to do whatever she like, hahaha... Here's the recipe, if you like to know how we made it.

Potato Donut

500 g all purpose flour
100 g sugar
11 g instant yeast (in Indonesia, instant yeast comes in 11 g packet)
200 g potato, steamed and mashed, cooled
75 g butter, room temperature
1/2 tsp. salt
4 egg yolks
100 ml cold milk

Combine the flour, sugar, and instant yeast in a bowl . Mix well
Add the mashed potato and egg yolks, mix well
Add the cold water in about 2-3 addition. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth but not completely elastic.
Add the butter and salt and continue kneading until elastic and the dough doesn't stick to the side of the bowl or your hand.

Let is rice in a warm place until the dough doubled in volume (time varies depending on the temperature of the room).
Weigh the dough about 50g each (or less if you want smaller donuts), and shape it to the regular donut shape, or any shape you like.
Let it proof the second time until the dough rise again.
Deep fry the dough in hot oil over medium heat. Make sure it's not too hot

Cherai Beach

This is my first post in 2011! We had a small trip to Cherai Beach yesterday with our parents, grandparents and cousins. It was the first time for Noura to play with waves on the beach, I guess. Well, we did it before in Veegaland, but that was totally different! We had a great time!

We're still in our holiday, and today is the last day of 2010. We went to Children's Park near the Marine Drive with my cousins and friends. Our favorite part is the ice cream part of course.

Toothless Smile

I lost one of my teeth.

Yesterday when I played with my sister Noura, I fell down and my tooth broke. There was a lot of blood and of course I cried very loud. Thank God that it wasn't my new tooth.

So, this is how I look now with my toothless smile :D
